What Is A Carabiner?

Carabiners are always ovular, oblong, or pear-shaped metal clips with spring or locking screw gates. They are commonly used in mountain and rock climbing, repelling, sailing, tree climbing, fire and rescue, and industrial work like construction and window washing. There are several different types and grades of carabiners and rating standards for safety. Our carabiner is also called accessory carabiner used for rigging and similar purposes but not required to meet the certain standards for life support.

Our range of carabiner is light, strong, inexpensive, and handy —- even around the house, workshop, or office. Many people use our carabiner for key rings or hammock rigging, or for hanging tools. Unique clips for promo

Promotional carabiners are a great company cost effective marketing and branding tool when they have been engraved or lasered with your company logo, meassage or slogan.

You and your customers don't have to be mountain climbers to love carabiner clips. Designed after real climbing carabiner clips, these small carabiner replicas feature a spring loaded gate for attaching to straps and loops. The gate mechanism opens with pressure and springs closed when released allowing carabiners to hold and be attached to various objects. Many people use a carabiner clip as a keychain. Large ones can accommodate several key rings. Smaller sizes easily clip to pocketbook straps or belt loops

Brief histroy of carabiner clips

Promotional carabiner keychains were first used as a marketing tool in the early 90’s when a prominent company displayed them in their promotional products catalog in black with a coloured nylon strap and custom imprinted label. The next step would dramatically increase the popularity of hook keychains world-wide. In 1995 RMG Accessory Gear a small promotional products company in Connecticut developed hook keychains for the college market.

Around 1995 some companies were experimenting with using lasers to apply marks directly onto the carabiner surface. Since the surface color was just a “coating” the laser could effectively remove this coat exposing the bright silver color of the aluminum below. In addition to applying color, anodizing the aluminum surface also protects it from abrasion and wear. The advantage of pad printing is that now the imprints can appear in color. The down side of this method is that the imprints do not hold up well and are subject to being scratched and worn off from constant handling as well as by keys rubbing against it. Pad printing is still in use today for customizing karabiners, but laser engraving is by far the more popular and desired marking method

By the late 90’s custom laser engraved and imprinted karabiners with straps and labels were being seen everywhere, from student backpacks to business brief case handles. During this time custom shape carabiners started to appear in the marketplace.
